Ingredients

  • 1 (11 oz) box vanilla wafers, plus extra for garnish
  • 4 to 5 ripe but firm bananas, sliced
  • 2 (3.4 oz) boxes instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 1/2 cups cold milk
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 (8 oz) container whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

  1. Beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla, then beat until combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the pudding mix and milk for 2 minutes, then blend into the cream cheese mixture. Fold in the whipped topping.
  3. Spread a thin layer of pudding in a 9x13 dish. Layer half the wafers, half the bananas, and half the remaining pudding. Repeat with the rest of the wafers, bananas, and pudding. Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours.
  4. Crush extra wafers and scatter over the top just before serving.

Notes

Chill time is not included in the prep time; allow a minimum of 4 hours, though overnight gives the best texture. This pudding is best cold and served the day after it is made.
