Method
- Rinse the Brussels sprouts, trim the stem ends, and cut each one in half lengthwise.
- Steam the halved sprouts over salted boiling water for 6 to 8 minutes, until tender but still bright green.
- While the sprouts cook, melt the butter in a skillet over medium-low heat, add the minced garlic, and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant and pale gold.
- Add the drained sprouts to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, squeeze the lemon juice over, and toss to coat, then serve immediately.
Notes
If your sprouts vary a lot in size, leave the smallest ones whole and halve the rest so they finish at the same time. This dish is at its best right after tossing, but leftovers are fine the next day warmed in a skillet.
