- Pat cube steaks dry, season with salt and pepper, and sear in hot oil for 3 to 4 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate.
- In the same skillet, sauté the onion and mushrooms over medium heat until softened, about 5 to 7 minutes.
- Stir in the flour and cook 1 minute, then whisk in the broth and Worcestershire. Simmer until slightly thickened, about 2 minutes.
- Pour the gravy into the slow cooker, nestle the steaks into the liquid, cover, and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours.
- Stir in the heavy cream if using, adjust salt, and serve the steaks and gravy over mashed potatoes with parsley.
Notes
The cook time on low can stretch to 8 hours if you need it, and the meat will just get more shreddable. Let the gravy rest for 5 minutes after stirring in the cream so the flavors settle.
