Ingredients
Method
- Activate the yeast in warm milk with a pinch of sugar until foamy, then mix with the remaining sugar, flour, salt, room-temperature milk, melted butter, and egg. Knead 8 minutes until smooth and elastic, then let rise in a greased bowl for 1 hour.
- Beat 8 oz cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, and vanilla until smooth and spreadable.
- Roll the dough into a 16x12-inch rectangle, spread the cream cheese mixture leaving a border, then dollop and spread the strawberry jam.
- Roll the dough into a tight log, seal, cut into 9 rolls, and arrange in a greased 9x9-inch pan. Cover and let rise 30 to 40 minutes until puffy.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden and set. Cool 10 minutes.
- Whisk 4 oz cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla into a pourable glaze, then spoon over the warm rolls and serve.
Notes
Rising time is not included in prep and cook times; expect about 1 hour 30 minutes total for both rises. The rolls taste best warm and fresh, but leftovers keep well for a few days.
