Ingredients

  • 6 bone-on, skin-on chicken thighs
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire, smoked paprika, and garlic powder in a small bowl.
  2. Pat chicken thighs dry and place in a 9x13-inch baking dish. Drizzle with olive oil, season with salt and pepper, then coat with half the sauce, arranging skin side up.
  3. Bake uncovered for 25 minutes. Brush with remaining sauce and bake another 10 to 15 minutes until internal temperature reaches 175°F (79°C) near the bone.
  4. Broil on high for 2 to 3 minutes until glaze bubbles and chars in spots. Transfer to a platter and spoon pan juices over the top.

Notes

If using boneless thighs, start checking for doneness around the 20-minute mark. Let the thighs rest 5 minutes off the heat before serving so the juices settle.
