Ingredients

  • 2 packs instant ramen
  • 2 tbsp gochujang paste
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 4 oz Spam
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups water or chicken broth
  • ½ cup kimchi (optional)
  • Green onion

Method

  1. Boil eggs for 6 minutes, then place in ice water to cool.
  2. Fry Spam slices in a skillet over medium heat until crisp on both sides, about 2 minutes per side.
  3. In a pot over medium heat, whisk gochujang, garlic, soy sauce, and water or broth. Simmer 3 to 4 minutes.
  4. Add ramen noodles to the broth and cook for 3 minutes until tender.
  5. Divide noodles and broth into bowls. Top with Spam, halved eggs, kimchi, green onion, and a drizzle of sesame oil.

Notes

Peel the eggs gently after their ice bath and handle them with care because the yolk inside is still soft. If your Spam slices seem too salty, give them a quick pat with a paper towel after frying.
