Method
- Whisk all ingredients together in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then lower the heat and simmer gently for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
- Taste and add more cayenne or hot sauce if you want extra heat. Simmer for 2 minutes more.
- Use the sauce right away as a glaze for grilled meats or serve it warm alongside your main dish as a dipping sauce.
Notes
If you are not using the sauce immediately, let it cool completely and transfer it to a jar. The flavors deepen overnight, so making it a day ahead is always a good idea.
