Method
- Boil the eggs for 6 minutes, then plunge into ice water and let them cool for 5 minutes.
- Whisk the soy sauce, water, rice vinegar, and honey together, then stir in the garlic, green onions, sesame seeds, and chili.
- Peel the eggs under running water and submerge them in the marinade, then refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
- Slice the eggs in half and serve over hot rice with a spoonful of the marinade and extra green onion on top.
Notes
The marinating time is not included in the prep or cook times; plan for at least 6 hours in the fridge. For the custardy yolk shown here, stick to 6 minutes and use an ice bath immediately after boiling.
