Method
- Fit the pie dough into a 9-inch pie dish, crimp the edges, and chill.
- Heat oven to 350°F (175°C) and toast pecans on a baking sheet for 8 to 10 minutes, then cool and roughly chop.
- Whisk eggs, corn syrup, brown sugar, butter, vanilla, and salt until smooth, then stir in the chopped pecans.
- Pour filling into the chilled crust, top with reserved pecan halves, and bake on a baking sheet for 50 to 55 minutes until the edges are set and the center jiggles slightly.
- Cool completely on a wire rack, then slice and serve.
Notes
The pie needs at least 2 hours of cooling time to set properly. You can make it a day ahead, store it covered at room temperature, and slice it the next day.
