Ingredients

  • 8 oz cold-smoked salmon, thinly sliced
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp capers, drained
  • ½ small red onion, thinly sliced
  • A handful of fresh dill sprigs
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 small cucumber, thinly sliced or ribboned
  • 4 bagels, halved
  • Crackers or rye crisps (optional)

Method

  1. Gently separate the smoked salmon slices and drape them in loose folds across half of a large wooden board.
  2. Place small bowls of cream cheese and capers on the board, then add piles of sliced red onion, halved cherry tomatoes, and cucumber ribbons.
  3. Scatter fresh dill sprigs over everything, tuck lemon wedges around the edges, and serve with the bagels on the side.

Notes

Take the cream cheese out of the fridge about 20 minutes before you start so it softens enough to spread easily. If you slice the onion and cucumber the night before, the morning assembly takes just a few minutes.
