Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • ½ cup salsa
  • 1 bag (12 oz) tortilla chips
  • 3 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Sliced pickled jalapeños
  • Sour cream
  • Chopped cilantro
  • Guacamole or sliced avocado

Method

  1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat, about 6 to 8 minutes. Stir in taco seasoning and salsa, simmer 2 minutes.
  2. Spread half the chips on a sheet pan, top with half the beef and cheese, then repeat with remaining chips, beef, and cheese.
  3. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 10 to 12 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  4. Remove from oven and immediately top with diced tomatoes, jalapeños, cilantro, sour cream, and guacamole. Serve hot.

Notes

If the beef releases a lot of fat, drain it before adding the seasoning to avoid greasy chips. For an even quicker version, use leftover taco meat and skip the stovetop step.
