Ingredients
Method
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Whisk the eggs, milk, cream, 1/4 cup sugar, vanilla, 1 tsp cinnamon, and salt together.
- Dip each bread slice into the custard, letting excess drip off, and arrange them on a buttered rimmed baking sheet.
- Whisk the 2 tbsp sugar with 1/2 tsp cinnamon and sprinkle over the tops. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until puffed, golden, and set.
- Serve immediately with maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh berries.
Notes
If your bread is very fresh and soft, dry the slices on a baking sheet in a 300°F oven for 10 minutes before soaking. This helps them hold their shape and absorb the custard without turning mushy.
