Ingredients
Method
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brown the sausage and garlic in a skillet over medium heat for 7 to 8 minutes, then drain any fat.
- Mix the cooked sausage with cream cheese, mozzarella, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Slice peppers in half lengthwise, remove seeds, and fill each half with about 2 to 3 tablespoons of the sausage mixture.
- Spread marinara in a 9x13 inch dish, nestle the peppers filling-side up, cover with foil, and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil, top with parmesan, and broil for 2 to 3 minutes until bubbly and golden. Rest 3 minutes, spoon sauce over each pepper, and serve hot.
Notes
The peppers will soften more the longer they bake. For a firmer bite, reduce the covered bake time to 20 minutes. If your marinara is very chunky, thin it with 2 or 3 tablespoons of water so it does not reduce too much.
