  • 16 oz box angel food cake mix
  • 20 oz can crushed pineapple in juice (do not drain)

Method
 

  1. Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Stir the cake mix and the entire can of crushed pineapple together in a large bowl until no dry patches remain.
  2. Pour the batter into an ungreased 10-inch tube pan and bake 30 to 35 minutes, until the top is golden and springs back when touched.
  3. Invert the pan immediately and let the cake cool upside down completely, about 1 hour, then run a knife around the edges and slice.

Notes

Cooling the cake upside down is not counted in the prep or cook time; plan for about an hour of hands-off cooling before slicing. If you only have a 9x13 pan, reduce the bake time to 25 to 30 minutes and watch for the golden, springy top.
