Ingredients
Method
- Heat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8-inch square pan with parchment. Whisk the melted butter, granulated sugar, 2 eggs, and vanilla until smooth. Stir in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt just until combined, then spread the batter into the pan.
- Bake the brownie base for 15 minutes, until the top looks set and the center still jiggles a bit. Remove from the oven and set aside.
- Whisk the 3 eggs, corn syrup, brown sugar, 2 tablespoons melted butter, and vanilla together, then fold in the pecans.
- Pour the pecan mixture over the hot brownie layer and bake for another 25 to 30 minutes, until the topping is golden and no longer jiggles in the middle.
- Cool completely in the pan, lift out using the parchment, and slice into 9 squares.
Notes
The brownies need to cool fully before cutting or the layers will shift, about an hour at room temperature. For cleanest slices, chill the pan for 20 minutes before cutting.
