Ingredients
Method
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, 1 tbsp Worcestershire, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Gently mix, then shape into 4 oval patties about 3/4 inch thick.
- Sear patties in a hot skillet over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes per side until deeply browned. Transfer to a plate.
- Reduce heat to medium, add butter, then sauté mushrooms and onion for 5-6 minutes. Stir in garlic for 30 seconds, add flour and cook 1 minute. Whisk in broth and 1 tbsp Worcestershire, bring to a simmer until thickened.
- Return patties to the skillet, cover, and simmer on low for 10-12 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Plate the patties, spoon the gravy and mushrooms over the top, and garnish with parsley if using. Serve hot.
Notes
The patties will be easier to handle if you chill them for 10 minutes after shaping, but this is optional. If you want a creamier gravy, stir in 2 tbsp heavy cream during the last minute of simmering.
