Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 (3.4 oz) box instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (8 oz) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 (11 oz) box vanilla wafer cookies
  • 4 medium ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

Method

  1. Beat cream cheese in a large bowl until smooth. Add sweetened condensed milk and vanilla, beat again. Add pudding mix and cold milk, beat on low for 2 minutes until thick.
  2. Fold in the thawed whipped topping until no streaks remain.
  3. Peel and slice the bananas ΒΌ inch thick. Hull and slice the strawberries the same thickness.
  4. Spread a thin layer of pudding in a 9x13-inch dish. Top with a layer of cookies, then bananas and strawberries. Repeat layers twice, ending with pudding. Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours.
  5. Uncover, let sit 5 minutes, then scoop into bowls and serve.

Notes

The pudding needs a full 4 hours in the fridge to set up properly, so build it the morning of or the night before. The cookies soften into cake-like layers, and the fruit and cream meld into one cool, creamy spoonful.
