- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a small bowl, whisk melted butter with both sugars until smooth. Add egg yolk and vanilla, then stir in flour, baking soda, and salt. Fold in chocolate chips.
- Lightly grease a 6-inch cast iron skillet. Scrape in the dough and press it into an even layer with the back of a spoon.
- Bake for 12 to 14 minutes, until edges are golden and the center looks slightly underdone.
- Remove from the oven. Press extra chocolate chips into the hot cookie, add a scoop of ice cream if you like, and serve right away.
Notes
This cookie tastes best eaten warm from the skillet within a few minutes of baking. If you want to get ahead, mix the dough and refrigerate it overnight in the skillet, then bake straight from the fridge and add 1 to 2 minutes to the bake time.
