Ingredients

  • 1 lb spaghetti
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus extra for top
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 24 oz jar marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella

Method

  1. Cook spaghetti 1 minute less than package directions. Drain and set aside. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Beat cream cheese, sour cream, Parmesan, egg, and ½ tsp garlic powder until smooth.
  3. In a skillet, heat oil over medium-high. Sauté onion 3 minutes, add garlic 30 seconds. Brown beef, season with Italian seasoning, remaining garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir in marinara and simmer 5 minutes.
  4. Layer half the spaghetti in a 9x13-inch dish. Spread cream cheese mixture over it. Top with remaining spaghetti, then meat sauce. Cover with mozzarella and extra Parmesan.
  5. Cover with foil and bake 20 minutes. Uncover and bake 10 to 15 minutes until golden and bubbly. Rest 10 minutes.
  6. Slice into squares and serve hot.

Notes

Let the casserole rest a full 10 minutes after baking so the layers set and slice cleanly. If the top is browning too fast, tent it loosely with foil for the last 5 minutes.
