- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high. Brown the beef and onion for 8 to 10 minutes, breaking up the meat. Stir in garlic, taco seasoning, and salsa, then cook 1 minute more.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Spread chips on a rimmed sheet pan, top evenly with cheeses, black beans, and the beef mixture.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and immediately top with sour cream, jalapeño slices, and cilantro. Serve hot from the pan.
Notes
Use a large, rimmed sheet pan so nothing slides off. If you like extra heat, scatter fresh sliced jalapeños over the top with the other cold toppings. The chips stay crispest right out of the oven, so gather everyone before you pull the pan.
