- Cook spaghetti in salted boiling water until al dente. Reserve 1 cup pasta water, then drain.
- Season salmon with salt and pepper. Sear in 2 tbsp olive oil over medium-high heat until golden, about 3 to 4 minutes per side, then set aside.
- Lower heat to medium. Add remaining oil and butter to the skillet, then stir in garlic, capers, red pepper flakes, and lemon zest. Cook 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add spaghetti, 1/2 cup pasta water, and lemon juice. Toss, flake in salmon and most of the dill, adding more pasta water until glossy. Season to taste.
- Divide into bowls, top with extra dill and black pepper, and serve right away.
Notes
Reserve the pasta water before draining; it’s what makes the sauce cling. If the pasta finishes before the salmon, keep it warm in a colander set over the pot with a lid.
