- Pat the shrimp completely dry. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Set aside.
- Heat olive oil and 1 tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp in a single layer and sear about 2 minutes per side, until pink and opaque. Transfer to a plate.
- Lower heat to medium, add garlic, and cook 30 seconds. Pour in lemon juice, add lemon zest, and swirl in remaining 2 tbsp butter until glossy. Return shrimp and toss to coat.
- Plate the shrimp, spoon all the sauce over, and scatter parsley on top. Serve immediately.
Notes
The sauce sizzles when the lemon hits the pan, so pour slowly. If you have a splash of dry white wine, add it right before the lemon juice and let it reduce for 30 seconds for an extra layer.
