Ingredients

  • 16 oz can refried beans
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp taco seasoning
  • 1½ cups shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 1 cup diced Roma tomatoes
  • 2.25 oz can sliced black olives, drained
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup sliced green onions

Method

  1. Spread the refried beans into an even layer in a 9x13-inch dish.
  2. Beat the cream cheese, sour cream, and taco seasoning with a hand mixer until smooth, about 2 minutes. Spread over the beans.
  3. Scatter the lettuce, then spoon the tomatoes and olives evenly on top.
  4. Sprinkle with the cheddar and green onions. Serve with tortilla chips, or cover and chill up to 4 hours.

Notes

For the best make-ahead plan, layer the beans and creamy mixture up to a day in advance, then add the fresh toppings and cheese right before serving. The dip tastes best within a few hours of adding the lettuce.
