- Beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes, scraping the bowl once.
- Add eggs and vanilla, beat on low just until combined, about 30 seconds.
- Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl, then stir into the butter mixture in two additions on low speed, mixing until no dry streaks remain.
- Fold in chocolate chips with a spatula until evenly distributed.
- Preheat oven to 375°F, line baking sheets with parchment, scoop rounded tablespoons of dough 2 inches apart, and bake 9 to 11 minutes until edges are golden and centers look slightly underdone.
- Cool on the sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack and serve warm.
Notes
If you are baking a frozen batch straight from the freezer, keep the oven at 375°F and add 1 to 2 minutes. The cookies will come out a little taller and with an even chewier center.
