Korean BBQ Marinade Recipe

Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes
Servings: 1 ½ cups (enough for 1½ lbs meat)
Calories: 68

Ingredients

  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • ½ ripe Asian pear, grated
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
  • ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1½ lbs thinly sliced beef sirloin or ribeye

Method

  1. Grate the pear and ginger into a large mixing bowl, then add the garlic, green onions, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, rice vinegar, sesame seeds, and black pepper.
  2. Whisk until the sugar dissolves and everything is evenly combined.
  3. Add the beef (or your protein of choice) to the bowl and massage the marinade into every piece. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours, before cooking.

Notes

If freezing the marinade with the meat, drop everything into a zip-top bag, squeeze out the air, and freeze flat. The meat will absorb flavor as it thaws. Thaw overnight in the fridge and cook as directed.
