Ingredients

  • 2 ahi tuna steaks (about 6 oz each, 1 inch thick)
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp white sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp neutral oil (such as avocado or canola)
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Method

  1. Preheat air fryer to 400°F. Whisk soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, rice vinegar, garlic powder, and black pepper. Pat tuna dry, coat in marinade, and let sit 10 minutes.
  2. Grease air fryer basket with 1 tsp neutral oil. Place tuna in basket and air fry for 4 minutes.
  3. Flip steaks, sprinkle with sesame seeds, and air fry 2 to 3 minutes more for medium-rare.
  4. Let rest 1 minute, then slice against the grain and serve with lime wedges.

Notes

If you like a more well-done steak, add an extra minute after flipping, but check often to avoid drying out the fish. The marinade can be doubled and half reserved for a finishing sauce.
