Ingredients

  • 4 (6 oz) salmon fillets, skin on or off
  • 3 tbsp hot honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp rice vinegar
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp neutral oil
  • Salt and black pepper

Method

  1. Whisk the hot honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and minced garlic together in a small bowl.
  2. Pat the salmon dry, season with salt and pepper, then sear in oil over medium-high heat for 4 minutes until the underside is golden and releases easily from the pan.
  3. Flip the fillets, pour the glaze around them, and cook for 2 minutes while spooning the sauce over the salmon until the glaze is sticky and reduced.
  4. Plate the salmon and spoon the remaining pan glaze over each fillet. Serve immediately.

Notes

If your salmon fillets still have the skin on, sear the flesh side first and leave the skin side down during the glazing step; it will crisp up nicely beneath the sauce. This dish is best fresh, but leftovers make a great cold salad topper the next day.
