- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x5-inch loaf pan with parchment. Whisk melted butter and sugar for 2 minutes, then whisk in eggs and vanilla until smooth.
- Add flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, and milk. Fold gently until just combined, about 30 seconds.
- Spread batter in pan, drop spoonfuls of hot fudge over the top, and swirl with a knife. Scatter chocolate chips and press in lightly.
- Bake 50–55 minutes until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs. Cool in pan 20 minutes, lift out, and slice with a serrated knife. Serve warm.
Notes
Warm the hot fudge sauce slightly so it swirls easily. A high-quality jarred sauce gives the best ribbons. The loaf is even better the next day after the fudge has set.
