- In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and minced garlic. Set the glaze aside.
- Pat the salmon dry, season both sides with salt and pepper, then heat the olive oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the fillets skin-side down for about 4 minutes without moving them.
- Flip the salmon, add the butter to the pan, and pour in the glaze. Let it bubble for 2 minutes, then start basting the fish with the sauce.
- Continue basting for another 1 to 2 minutes until the glaze thickens and coats the salmon, and the fish reaches 125°F to 130°F at the thickest part.
- Transfer to plates, spoon any remaining glaze over the top, and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
Notes
If your salmon has skin, that first sear skin-side down is what makes the skin crisp and golden. The glaze will continue to thicken as it sits, so serve it right away for the glossiest finish.
