Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 6 oz each)
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Method

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season chicken with salt and pepper, then sear 4 to 5 minutes per side until golden and cooked through (165°F). Transfer to a plate.
  2. Reduce heat to medium. Add garlic and rice vinegar to the same skillet, stirring 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in honey, soy sauce, and red pepper flakes. Simmer 2 to 3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  3. Return chicken to the skillet. Spoon the sauce over the chicken and cook 2 minutes, flipping once, until the chicken is hot and well coated.
  4. Slice the chicken and arrange on plates or over rice. Spoon any remaining pan sauce over the top and serve hot.

Notes

The sauce thickens quickly as it cools. If it tightens up too much before serving, stir in a tablespoon of warm water and the glaze will loosen right up. Pounding the chicken to an even thickness helps every piece cook at the same rate.
