Ingredients
Method
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until just combined. Shape into 4 oval patties about 3/4 inch thick.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear patties for 3-4 minutes per side until deeply browned, then transfer to a plate.
- Melt butter in the same skillet over medium heat. Add mushrooms and cook until golden, about 5 minutes. Sprinkle flour over mushrooms, stir for 1 minute. Whisk in broth and cream, bring to a simmer, and cook until thickened, 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Return patties to the skillet, nestle them into the gravy, cover, and simmer on low for 8-10 minutes until cooked through.
- Serve patties topped with the mushroom gravy.
Notes
Let the patties rest in the gravy off heat for a couple of minutes before serving; they’ll be even juicier. If the gravy tightens up too much, thin it with a small pour of broth.
