Ingredients
Method
- Combine beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce. Shape into 4 oval patties about ¾ inch thick.
- Sear patties in a hot skillet over medium-high heat, about 4 minutes per side, until deeply browned. Transfer to a plate.
- Melt butter in the skillet, cook onion for 4 minutes until soft. Stir in flour for 1 minute, then whisk in beef broth and remaining 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce. Simmer 3 minutes until thickened.
- Return patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over them, and simmer 10 minutes. Serve over mashed potatoes with parsley.
Notes
The patties will not be fully cooked after searing; they finish in the gravy, which keeps them tender. Let the dish rest for a minute or two off the heat before serving so the gravy thickens just a bit more.
