Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey, preferably 93% lean
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp dried sage
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Method

  1. Combine the turkey, maple syrup, and all spices in a bowl. Mix gently until just combined.
  2. Divide into 8 portions and shape into 1/2-inch-thick patties. Press a shallow dimple in the center of each.
  3. Heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high. Cook patties 3-4 minutes per side until crisp, golden, and 165°F (74°C) inside.
  4. Plate the patties and serve hot alongside your breakfast favorites.

Notes

These patties freeze beautifully raw. Shape them, layer between sheets of parchment, and freeze in a zip-top bag. Cook straight from frozen, adding 2-3 minutes per side. Thawed cooked patties reheat best in a dry skillet so the edges crisp up again.
