Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (85/15)
  • 2 (3 oz) packages instant ramen noodles, seasoning packets discarded
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Method

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up, until no longer pink, about 5 to 6 minutes. Spoon off excess fat if needed.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Pour over the beef, reduce heat to medium, and simmer 1 to 2 minutes until glossy.
  3. Meanwhile, boil ramen noodles according to package directions. Drain well and shake off excess water.
  4. Add noodles to the skillet and toss with tongs until evenly coated, about 1 minute. Remove from heat, top with green onions and sesame seeds, and serve immediately.

Notes

If the finished dish tastes a touch too salty, a squeeze of lime juice brightens everything. For a thicker sauce, let it bubble for an extra minute before tossing in the noodles.
