Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded low-moisture mozzarella
  • Fresh basil leaves, optional

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in olive oil and warm water, knead 2 minutes until smooth. Let rest.
  2. Brown ground beef 6–8 minutes. Add onion, cook 3 minutes, then add garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper; cook 30 seconds. Drain fat.
  3. On floured parchment, roll dough into a 12-inch circle. Transfer parchment to a baking sheet. Spread sauce, then half the cheese, the beef mixture, and remaining cheese.
  4. Bake 15–18 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly. Let cool 2 minutes, slice, and serve.

Notes

Rest the pizza a couple of minutes before slicing so the cheese doesn’t slide. If the dough feels sticky while rolling, dust it with a little extra flour. Any leftover slices reheat beautifully in the oven or air fryer.
