Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Sliced green onions and sesame seeds for serving

Method

  1. Brown the ground beef in a hot skillet with vegetable oil for about 5 minutes, then drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in the garlic and ginger, cook 30 seconds, then add broccoli and stir-fry 3 to 4 minutes.
  3. Whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and water, pour over the beef and broccoli, and toss.
  4. Cook until the sauce thickens, 1 to 2 minutes, then remove from heat, drizzle with sesame oil, and top with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot.

Notes

If you like extra sauce for rice, double the soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and water mixture. The stir-fry still cooks in the same amount of time.
