Ingredients
Method
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat until no pink remains, about 7 minutes. Drain fat, add onion, cook 3 minutes, then stir in garlic for 30 seconds.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta, egg, ½ cup mozzarella, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until combined.
- Spread a thin layer of marinara in a 9x13 dish. Layer half the frozen ravioli, half the meat sauce, spoonfuls of ricotta mixture, and remaining ½ cup mozzarella. Repeat layers.
- Cover with foil and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake 10 more minutes until bubbly and golden. Broil 2 to 3 minutes for a crisp top if desired.
- Let the casserole rest 5 minutes, then slice into squares and serve hot.
Notes
If you use sausage instead of beef, you may not need to drain much fat, but check the pan after browning. The rest time is what keeps the squares from falling apart, so don’t be tempted to cut in right away.
