Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 (15 oz) cans sliced peaches in heavy syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Method

  1. Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Add milk and stir until just combined.
  2. Melt butter in a 5- to 6-quart slow cooker on high. Pour batter evenly over melted butter. Spoon peaches with all their syrup over the batter. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg. Do not stir.
  3. Cover and cook on high for 2 hours 30 minutes, until the top is golden and the center is set.
  4. Turn off the slow cooker, uncover, and let sit 10 minutes. Scoop into bowls and serve warm.

Notes

Cook time can vary a little with your slow cooker model. The cobbler is done when the edges are deeply golden, the center no longer jiggles, and the top looks dry and cracked. For a crispier crust, prop the lid with a wooden spoon handle during the final 30 minutes of cooking.
