- Pat the turkey breast dry. Mix melted butter with thyme, pepper, and salt, then brush all over the breast.
- Scatter onion and garlic in the slow cooker, place turkey on top, and pour broth into the side of the pot.
- Cover and cook on low for 4 to 5 hours, until the thickest part reaches 160°F on a thermometer.
- Transfer turkey to a cutting board, tent with foil, and rest for 15 minutes.
- Slice against the grain and serve warm with the onions from the pot.
Notes
Resting is not optional here. That 15 minute wait is what keeps the juices inside the meat when you cut into it. If your turkey breast is closer to 2 lb, start checking the temperature a full hour earlier.
