Method
- Whisk the barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, salt, and pepper in the slow cooker.
- Add the chicken breasts and turn to coat. Cover and cook on low 6–8 hours or high 3–4 hours until the chicken shreds easily.
- Transfer the chicken to a board, shred with two forks, and return it to the sauce. Stir well. If the sauce is thin, cook uncovered on high 20–30 minutes until thickened.
- Spoon the chicken onto toasted buns, top with slaw, and serve hot.
Notes
Cook time listed is for the low setting; see the tips table for high. A little extra sauce on the side for dipping is never a bad idea.
