Ingredients
Method
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Season chicken with half the salt and the pepper, then sear in 1 tbsp butter over medium-high heat until golden on both sides.
- Whisk together soup, sour cream, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, remaining salt, and half the Swiss cheese until smooth.
- Grease a 9x13 dish, spread a thin layer of sauce, place chicken in a single layer, and pour remaining sauce over the top.
- Cover with foil and bake 25 minutes. Toss stuffing mix with remaining Swiss and melted butter. Uncover, add topping, and bake uncovered 10 to 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let rest 5 minutes, then serve, spooning sauce and topping over each portion.
Notes
If you use a store-bought rotisserie chicken, shred it and skip the searing; reduce the covered bake time to 15 minutes. Allowing the casserole to rest a few minutes after baking helps the sauce thicken so it stays on the chicken instead of pooling on the plate.
