Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb mild Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 24 oz jarred marinara sauce
  • 8 oz full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 15 oz whole-milk ricotta
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 3 cups shredded whole-milk low-moisture mozzarella
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 box no-boil lasagna noodles (about 12 oz)
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for serving (optional)

Method

  1. Cook beef and sausage with onion and garlic over medium-high heat for 8 to 10 minutes; drain fat.
  2. Beat cream cheese until fluffy, then mix in ricotta, sour cream, egg, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  3. Simmer the meat with marinara sauce for 10 minutes, then cool 5 minutes.
  4. In a 9x13 dish, layer sauce, noodles, half the cream cheese mixture, and 1 cup mozzarella; repeat, then top with final noodles, remaining sauce, and last cup mozzarella.
  5. Rest 15 minutes, then bake covered at 375°F for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake 10 to 15 minutes until golden.
  6. Let lasagna rest 10 to 15 minutes before slicing. Garnish with parsley and serve.

Notes

Letting the lasagna rest after baking is not optional—it holds together beautifully instead of sliding apart. If you’re prepping it in advance, assemble, cover, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking, adding 10 to 15 minutes to the covered bake time.
