Ingredients
Method
- Preheat oven to 400°F. In a 10-inch oven-safe skillet, cook ground beef over medium-high heat until browned. Drain all but 1 tbsp fat, then add onion and cook until soft. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
- Stir in cream of mushroom soup, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper until smooth. Fold in frozen corn and shredded cheddar cheese, then remove from heat.
- Arrange frozen tater tots in a single snug layer over the filling. Sprinkle a little extra cheese on top if you like.
- Bake 25 to 30 minutes until tots are golden and filling bubbles at the edges. Let rest 5 minutes, then scoop into bowls and serve hot.
Notes
The 5-minute rest after baking is not counted in the cook time but helps the filling set. For a deeper savory note, use a smoked cheddar or add a pinch of smoked paprika to the beef. If you don't have an oven-safe skillet, brown the beef in any pan, transfer the filling to a greased 9-by-13 baking dish, then top with tots and bake as directed.
