Ingredients
Method
- Cream the ½ cup butter and ¾ cup sugar until fluffy, then beat in the eggs and 2 tsp vanilla.
- Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Alternate adding the dry mix and ¾ cup milk to the butter mixture, mixing just until smooth.
- Stir brown sugar, cinnamon, and ¼ cup melted butter together until sandy.
- Spread half the batter in a greased 9×13 pan. Sprinkle the cinnamon mixture over it, dollop the rest of the batter, and swirl with a knife.
- Bake at 350°F for 35 to 40 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs. Cool 20 minutes in the pan.
- Whisk powdered sugar, 2 Tbsp milk, and ½ tsp vanilla for the glaze. Add extra milk to reach a thick, pourable consistency. Drizzle over the cake and slice.
Notes
Let the cake cool for 20 minutes before glazing. The cinnamon swirl needs that time to set so it does not spill out when you cut into it. The cake is best the day it is made, but it holds up well in the fridge and reheats beautifully.
