Christmas Sprinkle Cookies Recipe

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 12 minutes
Total Time 22 minutes
Servings: 24 cookies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup holiday nonpareils, plus extra for rolling

Method

  1. Heat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment. Whisk melted butter and sugar until glossy, then whisk in egg and vanilla until smooth.
  2. Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined, then fold in 1/2 cup of the sprinkles.
  3. Scoop tablespoon-sized dough balls, roll between damp palms, then coat heavily in extra sprinkles and place 2 inches apart on sheets.
  4. Bake 10 to 12 minutes until edges are just golden. Cool on the sheet for 5 minutes, then move to a wire rack.

Notes

If the dough feels sticky, chill it for 10 minutes before scooping. A slice of bread in the storage container keeps the cookies soft for days.
