Ingredients
Method
- Beat butter, peanut butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy, about 2 minutes. Beat in egg and vanilla until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk flour, oats, baking soda, and salt until combined.
- Stir the flour mixture into the peanut butter mixture until almost combined, then fold in M&Ms and chocolate chips until no dry spots remain.
- Drop heaping tablespoonfuls onto parchment-lined baking sheets, 2 inches apart. Press extra M&Ms on top if desired. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10 to 12 minutes, until edges are set and centers look slightly underdone.
- Cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
No chilling is needed for this dough when you use standard creamy peanut butter. If the dough feels soft or greasy, chill it for 20 minutes before scooping. Pressing a few extra M&Ms onto the dough balls right before baking makes the cookies look especially festive.
