Ingredients
Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch pan. Prepare cake batter as directed on the box, pour into pan, and bake 25 to 30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- While the cake is warm, poke holes all over with a wooden spoon handle. Whisk sweetened condensed milk and chocolate syrup, pour over the cake, then cool completely and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Beat cold heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form. Spread whipped cream over the chilled cake.
- Slice into 12 squares and serve cold.
Notes
The 2-hour chill step is not counted in the prep or cook time but is essential for the cake to fully absorb the soak. If you are short on time, a tub of thawed frozen whipped topping can step in for the homemade cream.
