Method
- Whisk flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
- Beat eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla, then whisk in boiling water.
- Fold wet ingredients into dry until just combined, then fold in mini chocolate chips.
- Divide batter between two greased 9-inch pans. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 to 35 minutes.
- Whip butter, cocoa, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until fluffy.
- Frost cooled cake layers, then pour warm ganache over the top and let it drip.
Notes
Cool the cake layers completely before frosting, about 1 hour extra. For a deeper chocolate taste, swap the boiling water with hot coffee.
