Ingredients
Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Cream the butter and both sugars on medium speed for about 2 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla on low just until combined and glossy, about 30 seconds.
- Whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt together, then stir into the wet ingredients by hand until no streaks remain. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Press the dough into an even 1/2-inch thick circle on a greased 12-inch pizza pan.
- Bake for 15 to 18 minutes until the edges are golden and the center looks slightly underdone.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then slide onto a board, slice into wedges, and serve warm.
Notes
If you only have a rimmed baking sheet, press the dough into a rough 11-inch circle. The cookie will spread a little more and bake a minute or two faster, so check at 13 minutes. You can also dress up the top right out of the oven with a handful of mini marshmallows or a drizzle of melted peanut butter.
