Ingredients

  • 4 (6 oz) salmon fillets
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil, plus more for the skillet
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt, plus more for seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper, plus more for seasoning
  • Fresh cilantro leaves, for serving (optional)

Method

  1. Whisk together chili powder, lime juice, honey, garlic, olive oil, salt, and pepper to make the glaze.
  2. Pat salmon dry and season with additional salt and pepper. Sear skin-side down in an oiled, oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat for 3 minutes.
  3. Flip the salmon, spoon the glaze over the top, then broil on the top rack for 4 to 5 minutes until the glaze is caramelized and the fish flakes easily.
  4. Transfer to plates, spoon pan juices on top, squeeze fresh lime juice over the fish, and scatter cilantro if using. Serve right away.

Notes

If you don’t have an oven-safe skillet, sear the salmon in a regular pan, then move the fillets to a foil-lined baking sheet for broiling.
